Thirty-four excited Year 2 students arrived at school at 5.30pm last Friday night ready to spend a fun-filled night together. After setting up their bedding and participating in some party games, the students enjoyed a dinner of pasta and vegetables with delicious garlic bread. After washing up their own utensils, the students settled in to watch The Good Dinosaur and enjoyed a fruity dessert. Once teeth had been cleaned and sleeping bags crawled into, it was time for bed! We had an early start, with most of the students waking up with the rain before 5.00am. The students made it clear they had been practising setting up and packing away their bedding by completing this task in record time! They had certainly earned their breakfast of pancakes, berries, cream and maple syrup. Whilst waiting for the rain to stop, we watched The Magic School Bus. We were lucky that the sun emerged at approximately 7.30am, so we were able to head to Escarpment Park for a play before parents arrived to collect their tired, but very happy children.
Thank you to our fantastic parent helpers; Rob Bright, Pete Lyons, Sophie Williamson, Sasha Harvey, Julie Fortucci and Amandé Facey. Thank you also to Mr Townsend and Mrs Durham for all of their help in making the night memorable for the students.
The behaviour of all students throughout the sleepover was exemplary and we were particularly impressed with the resilience shown by students who were spending their first night away from home.
