Dear St James' Community- WELCOME BACK!
I trust the break has been restful, invigorating and helped you all appreciate the value of school. Our children are our most valuable asset, but they can challenge even the most patient of parents with over-exposure. The Christmas break can sometimes stretch families and relationships to the limit. That is why the first day of a new school year can be the most rewarding time for all!
The students have lost routine and are desperate for some stimulation and structure that will challenge their mental capacity. Although some families may choose educational adventures during the holiday period, the cost of travel, entry fees and eating out can really stretch the family budget. Added on to Christmas and the purchases at Officeworks at the start of a school year, generally means there are no takeaways in February and March!
The recreation that occurs in this long break is designed to 're-create' us through way of an escape from our everyday grind. In our busy world, this precious time is invaluable.
The new school year is an opportunity for a clean slate- a new beginning- a new teacher- new prospects. The blank canvas of a fresh start is daunting for some, but refreshing for others.
We sincerely hope that you are ready to hand your much-loved children back over to us and allow them to prosper and be pushed to excel in a new year. We are certainly ready for them and excited about all the new faces that have joined us. If you are new to St James', please give us a few days to show that we embrace all newcomers as part of the 'Orange Army', right from the start.
Don't forget the war cry. Orange, Orange, Orange……..Oi, Oi, Oi.
Mr Adrian Pree, Principal
