In recent weeks we have been busy appointing staff to promotional roles for the 2017 school year. This process has allowed potential leaders to apply for new promotional roles that are developing with the School as it evolves. There has been a small re-structure with the following appointments.
- Mr Dan Mornement has been the Director of Primary this year, and he has been appointed Director of Junior School for 2017. Mr Mornement has already proven himself to be a great leader in the Primary School since its commencement.
- Mr Nicholas Townsend has been appointed Deputy of Junior School, with a focus on Curriculum. Mr Townsend completed third term as Acting Director of Primary, a role which he completed with seamless transition.
- Mr Trent Jackaman has been appointed Coordinator of Information Technology. This effectively makes him our mentor for developing IT at St James’, taking over from Mr Townsend who has performed this role in 2015/16.
St James’ will have a Junior School from Kindergarten to Year 6, and a Senior School from Year 7 to Year 12. Once the whole school is complete, we may move to a Middle School model, but this will depend on the changes in educational trends at the time.
I would like to acknowledge the excellent work of our Early Learning Centre Coordinator, Ms Emma-Lee Jackson, who has stepped down from the role to focus on a busy parenting schedule. Ms Jackson has set the ELC on a terrific pathway since her appointment in 2015, with her outstanding knowledge of all things early childhood. Ms Jackson will still be heavily involved in the running and mentoring of developing teachers in the ELC.
In addition, as our secondary school develops, you will soon see the appointment of Learning Area Coordinators for English, Science, Mathematics, Humanities, Health and Physical Education, Art, Languages and Music. There will also be a Sports Coordinator appointed.
We will also have Mrs Stacey Syme as the Year 7 Coordinator, and Mrs Fiona Monger as the Year 8 Coordinator.
It is an exciting time to be involved at St James’ with so many teachers eager to step into leadership roles and develop their own specialist areas of passion. This new structure will allow you to speak to the person who is best able to answer your detailed questions, or for students to seek advice with more difficult content becoming the norm.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries.
