Principal's Welcome

Welcome to St James’ Anglican School!

Each school has its own unique flavour that defines the organisation. The Arts, academia, sport, languages, pastoral care and religion are among some of the favourite declarations.

With so many schools to choose from, it is important to try and find a point of difference.

St James’ is a new school that is in the enviable position of dictating its own direction, and not inheriting the dreams of others. Foundation staff have the rudder firmly in hand, and we are empowered to set the School on a direction based on a wide range of new opinions.

St James’ will equip your child with the skills to survive in an ever-changing world. We will develop each child to maximise their potential, and graduate as confident, engaging and erudite young Australian. We believe that each student will recognise the need for their own independence, and take responsibility for their own development. We refer to this as ‘agency’, and it is a term that permeates modern educational language. Students must be their own advocate, they must recognise cause and effect, they must develop agency.

Recognising individual differences and establishing clear learning pathways for children who are developing at different rates is the key to good education. Feedback has been shown to have the most significant improvement in results, when delivered in a constructive and positive way. Students benefit from explicit feedback delivered by caring and supportive teachers. Parents want constant feedback so problems do not become too significant. End of year reporting is designed to reinforce all the communication that has come before through constant contact.

St James’ will deliver a broad curriculum which includes many specialist areas aimed at broadening each students’ skill set. Design and Technology, Food Technology, Outdoor Education, Japanese, Music, Art and Physical Education will all help support a myriad of co-curricular activities. It is this breadth of opportunity that will help develop a truly holistic approach to the development of our students.

We will do everything in our power to make your child and your family an integral part of our Christian community. Our goal is to work hard to be the best we can possibly be at everything we offer. We will listen, we will be transparent, and we will look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with each and every family.

Our vision for the future is clear. Quality education in a caring environment. Happy students always equates to good results, and a positive experience for all.

Best wishes,

Adrian Pree
Principal
