On Wednesday 19 June 27 St James’ students took part in the annual Anglican Schools Commission’s Piano Competition, held in the Allan Shaw Centre at Peter Moyes Anglican Community School.
All students played a piece of music they had been learning throughout the year, for an audience of approximately 300 people – daunting for some! We spent some of our free time listening to piano duets, original compositions and arrangements, and some of the best young pianists in Perth.
Tyson Bennet (Year 4) secured a spot in the finals and played his piece ‘Malaguena’ on the baby grand piano on centre stage. He played superbly and won third prize out of the six finalists.
Congratulations to Tyson and to all pianists that proudly represented St James’ on the day!
